Carding

Fiber Processing Order Form

Carding is the most important process in yarn making. Carding the fibers determines the quality of the resulting yarns in terms of yarn weight, and thickness of yarn. The card takes in the opened fibers and in a process of moving them from one drum to another straightens and aligns the fibers. The resulting web of fibers is gathered off the final drum on the card and run through a set of pinch rollers that turns the web into a sliver otherwise known as roving. Carding is done to all the fibers we process i.e. wool, alpaca, llama, angora and mohair.

Our card is a 40" Saco Lowell with an even feed on the input end.
